As part of our testing of the Panasonic FZ50 digital camera we examine the image noise during typical night exposures.
For this test of the Panasonic FZ50 digital camera we went to our usual location, a bridge overlooking a freeway which offers an uninterrupted view of the central business district of Melbourne.
The RAW files for this and the other tests are available from our Camera Test page.
The below JPEGs are 100% crops (i.e. the actual pixels) from the center of the image prepared from the RAW file with no sharpening, noise reduction or exposure adjustment done through Adobe Camera RAW and Photoshop.
100ISO 8 Seconds f4
200ISO 8 seconds f5.6
400ISO 8 seconds f8 (wind gust hit camera but can still read the noise)
800ISO 8 seconds f11
1600ISO 4 seconds f11 (the FZ50 only goes to f11, so for the same exposure, had to halve the exposure time)
1600ISO 8 seconds f11 (1 stop over exposed compared to the others but same exposure duration)
