The winner of this photography competition is now up.
The March competition winner is finally up. We’ve had a lot of personal dramas here and that is mainly the reason for the holdup in publishing this. I have also been reconsidering the running of competitions with small value prizes, which frankly attract too few entries to make it worthwhile for anyone. More news on that soon.
Anyway, March was weather photography and we got a very small number of entries. From these the winner was a clear standout as a strong, well composed and considered image. So the winner of the ThinkTank Photo Pee Wee Pixel Pocket Rocket prize, valued at $13.50, is Barbara E. Leven of Astoria, NY.
“The title of this image is “W Train”. The newly fallen snow, the curve of the tracks, and the red lights on the train, like the glowing eyes of some strange metallic caterpillar, all combined to make an irresistible image. I created it with a Nikon D70s, F9 at 1/1250 of a second using a Tamron macro zoom lens at 170 mm focal length and processed it in Photoshop CS3. By the time I boarded the train and arrived at my destination 30 minutes later in downtown Manhattan, the snow had turned to rain and was washed away!”
