Press Release

Epson will keep working closely with its partners in the proofing industry to greatly enhance the functionality and productivity of its new range of wide format printers with Epson’s newly developed UltraChrome K3 ink with Vivid Magenta, according to Epson’s Business Solutions, Business Unit Manager, Craig Heckenberg.

“Our new 64 inch wide format printer is a revolutionary combination of a cost effective, 8 colour ink set with expanded colour gamut. The Stylus Pro 11880 is now getting even better with strong support from the leaders in the proofing industry,” Mr Heckenberg said.

Seiko Epson Corporation (“Epson”) has been working with GMG to create a means for printing various levels of proofs with accurate, consistent, and wide colour gamut using the Epson Stylus Pro 880 series printers. The result is the new GMG ColorProof 4.5.

This feature dramatically extends colour gamut as well as accuracy and consistency by taking full advantage of Epson’s newly developed UltraChrome K3 ink with Vivid Magenta technology.

Epson Stylus Pro printers have long been supported by GMG ColorProof. Now the new GMG ColorProof 4.5 brings this support to a new level with the following features:

·        First time calibrated spot colours in GMG ColorProof. If the user decides to save a spot colour as a calibrated set, it will reproduce very closely on any calibrated printer of the same printer family.
·        Sharpening for proofing profiles, with a number of options including unsharp masking for amount, radius, and threshold.
·        Missing dot simulation of gravure printing processes. Press profile parameters of frequency, intensity (size), and start and end of dot percent can be edited.
·        Support for new printers, Vivid Magenta ink Epson printers (SP 4880-7880-9880), updated four-color Epson printers with matte black (4450-7450-9450), and the new 64″ Epson large format printer (SP 11880).
·        Support of new HKS and Pantone Goe spot colour sets with new spot colour databases for Epson printers.
