Press Release

Seiko Epson Corporation (“Epson”) and EFI, the world leader in colour digital print servers, superwide format printers, and inks and print management solutions, has launched a new solution for proofing and large-format production.

The new Epson Stylus Pro 4880, 7880, 9880, and 11880 printers are supported by the new version of EFI Colorproof(TM) XF.  Demanding users in the proofing community, as well as those in industries such as photography, fine art, and print production, who purchase the solution of Colorproof XF and the Epson Stylus Pro series can print various levels of proofs with accurate, consistent, and wide gamut colour.  This new solution dramatically extends colour gamut as well as accuracy and consistency by taking full advantage of Epson’s newly developed UltraChrome K3(TM) ink with Vivid Magenta technology.

Epson’s Business Solutions, Business Unit Manager, Craig Heckenberg, said Epson’s new 880 series printers, including the 64 inch Stylus Pro 11880, provided a new range of cost-effective business opportunities for the print-for-pay, proofing, photography and fine art markets.

“Epson will continue to respond to the diversifying needs of all our customers in a very positive and productive way through strong alliances with our partners in each of these segments,” Mr Heckenberg said.

Russell Cavenagh, Sales Director for DES, the Australian distributor for Colorproof XF and other EFI contract proofing, colour management and workflow software, said:  “EFI Colorproof XF and Epson have always enjoyed majority support from the Australian and NZ proofing users.  With the width and speed of the new 11880 and new production functions within Colorproof XF such as the Intelligent Clean Colour we look forward to extending that success in the instant print and fine art markets”.

Epson Stylus Pro printers have long been supported by EFI Colorproof XF, winner of the 2007 BERTL’s Best Wide Format Pre-press/Proofing Solution. The new version of EFI’s Bestcolor(R) technology-driven inkjet proofing solution includes several enhanced and new features, such as:

Intelligent Clean Colour Technology
This feature for vibrant and crisp colours ensures: vivid, saturated colour with pleasant modulation and clean appearance; smooth cleaning of primary and secondary colours without any influence on colour critical areas like greys, skin tones or spot colours. Intelligent Clean Colour Technology is flexible and can be automatic, custom mode or switched off for regular proofing needs.

Full Gamut function
The Full Gamut profile lets users exploit the maximum colour gamut of their printing equipment, and provides good reproduction of primary colours. With the Full Gamut function, there are no colour gamut limitations through profiles.

Support of the most up-to-date proofing standards
Colorproof XF for the new Epson large format printer series features full compliance with industry standards, including ISO 12647-7 and support of IT8.7.4 Chart.

Complete cross platform XF server
