Kodachrome was my film of choice for so many years of my photography. At least when I wanted to shoot color film. The color was stunning when well shot. I loved both Kodachrome 25 and 64 and used it as my main color film for some 10 to 15 years. This was basically my middle years on photography, after my years as a cash-strapped teenager who shot mainly black and white film and processed it in the bathroom, and before my growing love affair with digital photography.
While it has now been many years since I shot my last roll of Kodachrome, it is certainly sad to see it pass. Kodak believes stocks will run out by the US fall, meaning it will all be gone within, say, three months. I suspect there will now be a burst of tutorials on how to get the ‘Kodachrome look’ in Photoshop.
